STORY

Coastal is a Pioneer Mission Project of the Methodist Church in Ireland (MCI). A number of years ago, in conjunction with the work being done through the Boardwalk Collective (formerly The Surf Project), MCI began asking what it might be like to plant/pioneer a fresh community of faith based in Portrush.

In the summer of 2022, Chris and Hannah Agnew were commissioned as Pioneer Mission Leaders to move to Portrush and explore this more fully. After 9 months of living in Portrush, connecting with local families, and in conversation with other local churches about missional opportunity in the area, in particular Mountsandel Christian Fellowship, Coastal was born.

The heart is to be a family of families on mission on the North Coast, seeking the peace and prosperity of Portrush and the surrounding area, partnering with the Spirit of God to reconcile humanity to creation, one another and, ultimately, to God.

We are convinced of the public truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ: that he is genuinely good news for every person, in every place, in every time in history.
